Road to the Gifted- Digital Portfolio
After five years of teaching, I decided to take a new journey and explore the area of gifted education. Over the past year I have been taking classes through the East Carolina University Gifted Education Licensure Program where I have gained a better understanding about gifted students and their characteristics, learned about the identification process, gifted programming, instructional strategies, how to advocate for gifted students, and so much more.
This document explains my understanding of giftedness after analyzing many different definitions of giftedness through my course readings. The question "What is giftedness?" was referred to or asked many times throughout my journey through the gifted education courses and I believe my definition has grown from a generic definition to a more complex definition supported by research and readings.
